Important Message Regarding Cowboys Town Hall

March 9th 7PM at Contemporary Calgary - RSVP

Thank you for registering for our Town Hall next week on the future of Cowboys Park. This notice is both a reminder of the upcoming event and an outline of the event schedule for Monday evening.

Our event will take place inside the Heather Edwards Theatre at Contemporary Calgary. There will be someone to direct you once you are inside the building.

The bulk of our time in the town hall is dedicated to a community-led ideation exercise. We want to hear from you on three topics:

  1. How the Cowboys Music Festival can minimize impacts to neighbors during the festival itself

  2. How the impacts of the set-up and take down of Cowboys Music Festival can be minimized for park users

  3. Long term improvements and changes that you'd like to see to the park to make it a useable space for everyone

To facilitate these conversations, we will be bringing sticky notes for you to write on and post on a board. The Ward 7 office will have a staff member posted at every sticky note station to help facilitate these conversations and record answers. Please do talk with the other town hall participants about your experiences, concerns, and hopes regarding these topics- community conversations are essential to identifying the next steps for the City and Penny Lane Entertainment.

There will be members of City administration present to listen to the community, but they will not be answering questions or giving a presentation. The point of this event is to focus on improvements going forward, not on answering for past decisions.

We will follow this event up by creating and distributing a "What We Heard Report" to stakeholders.

Agenda

7:00 pm - Introduction from Ward 7 Councillor Myke Atkinson

7:10pm - Gratitude exercise (What good things do parks do for our community?)

7:15pm - Community Discussion/Sticky Note Exercise- attendees will write wants and needs for changes to the park on sticky notes. Staff from the Ward 7 office will be positioned by the sticky note boards to take notes and help summarize the feedback

8:15pm - Penny Lane opportunity for comment, questions

8:25pm - Cllr Atkinson closing remarks

We want to thank Contemporary Calgary for opening their doors to this event, and we ask that everyone be respectful of the space. Please note that we will be taking photos at this event.

Looking forward to seeing you all and having a productive conversation!

Kind regards,

Elliot
